The Wonder of Christmas

Christmas is one of my favorite times of year. But what I love most isn't the decorations, though I do think the lights are nice. It isn't the presents, though I still find it hard not to feel a bit like a kid on Christmas morning. It isn't all the good food or even the time with family and friends.
What I love most is that somewhere in the midst of my enjoyment of all these good things, something always manages to grab hold of my heart. It might be a phrase from a Christmas storybook. It might be a line from a Christmas song. It might be a scene from a Christmas movie. Or it might just be a look of wonder on the face of one of my children.
Whatever it is compels me to pause and as the noise and busyness of the season continue about me, for a moment, there's a silent night inside my heart. And as I'm made to wonder at the miracle of the incarnation, my small and too often hard heart grows a little softer and a little larger with love for the God who came to earth to rescue me.
Wishing you and yours all the joy and wonder of the season - Scott (and Emma)
