A Winter Offering

First of all, thank you for the expressions of concern for Emma and for your prayers. It seems we are moving in the right direction. Though she's a long way from thriving, the last few weeks have probably been the best in the last year. Enough so, that she has been able to take up pen and brush again for a few "for fun" drawings and paintings. As you think about her, we would be grateful for your continued prayers.
A few years ago, Emma adorned one of our base boards with this little painting. Every time I notice it, I think there is a story hiding somewhere inside. As of yet, I haven't managed to find it. But last winter, I did stumble on this little poem lurking there.

When winter days are dull and gray
you will most often find
Me holed up in a favorite spot
where I can never mind
How winter's worst may roar and howl
beneath a cheerless sky
And threat to reach me even here
with cold and icy cry.
But no such fear can quake my heart
when such comforts are mine,
With warmth of hearth and such delights
as in a book I find.
Hoping you find much to warm, comfort, and delight you during this season of rest - Scott (and Emma)
